Dr William Pena was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where he graduated from medical school at Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo in 1982. He practiced and taught in medical school. In 1990 he did his internship at Bronx-Lebanon Medical Center and went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at Mount Auburn Hospital, Harvard medical school where he stayed as faculty from 1993 to 2001.
In 2002 he moved to Florida and practiced at mercy Hospital until 2003 where he was presented with the physician recognition award of the year. Since 2003 he has been practicing in the memorial hospital system in south Broward. He is presently the chief of medicine at Memorial hospital Miramar.

I would reconsider the appointment schedule...do the last schedule of the day for the sake of not loosing too much time off work.

Although the wait was a little bit long. It was well worth the wait. Dr. Peña is very professional and took his time. I did not feel rushed at all unlike other visits at other Dr.'s Offices. I will continue to visit Dr. Peña.

He was a lovely doctor. My only issue was that I was not attended to alone but with one of his students.
In addition, had to wait for over an hour.

The wait was long but once Dr. Pena came in it was worth it. He is very thorough with the exam. He is an old fashioned doctor. :-)

I think I may have found my new primary doctor. Extremely thorough, very pleasant, and not arrogant. Only bad thing is that he's popular so you will wait 1.5-2 hours.

During the 1st 2 hours of wait time I considered leaving multiple times. Luckily I stayed and was FINALLY greeted by the Dr's assistant who ran a thorough preliminary including bloodwork (an added convenience). Dr Pena was apologetic about the delay and did not rush me. He heard my concerns, prescribed meds when appropriate, yet referred me to specialists when warranted. Dr Pena seems to care more for his patients than for his ego. That is refreshing to see especially when the bottom line generally trumps sound healthcare. I'm glad I waited those 2 hours.
