Dr. Hofstein received his B.S. in psychology from Tel Aviv University- Israel and completed his graduate training in clinical psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. While completing his doctoral studies, Dr. Hofstein received extensive training in the treatment and assessment of teens within the juvenile justice system in Massachusetts.
Dr. Hofstein completed his clinical psychology internship at the University of Southern California University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (USC UCEDD) at Children's Hospital Los Angeles where he specialized in empirically validated treatment of children and families within the Adolescent Medicine Division.
Upon graduating from internship, Dr. Hofstein completed a rigorous two-year post-doctoral fellowship at the Comprehensive Adolescent Rehabilitation and Education Service program and the Behavioral Science Research Unit of St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center Department of Psychiatry, a teaching hospital of Columbia University. This fellowship focused on treatment and research in pediatric mental health with a specialty on children and adolescents with co-occurring addiction and psychiatric problems.
Dr. Hofstein has co-authored and presented presentations on such topics as addiction, LGBT, juvenile delinquency, and humor.
Currently, Dr. Hofstein holds a position as a supervising psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at SLRHC. He is also, a faculty member of the American Psychological Association Accredited Psychology Internship Program at the Child and Family Institute. As a faculty member, Dr. Hofstein is responsible for the training, supervision, and teaching of pre-doctoral psychology externs and interns.

Dr. Hofstein is an amazing psychologist, who is incredibly dedicated to his work. He treated my teenage daughter during a very stressful time and brought a sense of calm to our family. He is so supportive and attentive and really knows how to connect to teens!
