The whole experience was very pleasant starting with the receptionist. I was pretty late but they were still able to see me no problem. Doctor Roa was very approachable and asked a bunch of helpful questions. She made a bunch of recommendations that will definitely help me out. The nurse was also very friendly and asked a ton of helpful questions

The doctor wondered why I didn't get the chicken pox vaccine as a child. I explained to her that it was not available when I was a child. She looked at me like I was a combination of ignorant and crazy and she insisted it was. I was born in 1987 and got the chicken pox when I was 4. The vaccine wasn't available until 1995 in the U.S. Also I told her that I avoid sugar and exercise 30 minutes a day. When I left I received a recommendation to avoid sugar and exercise 30 minutes a day. I've had unpleasant experiences with medical professionals before who are dismissive and condescending and don't listen to me. I don't understand why someone whose job it is to literally care for you acts like this. She wasn't overly rude but she my appointment reminded me why I hate going to the doctor.

Overall friendly, welcoming staff. Negative remarks about using marijuana from Dr. Rao though. As a medical marijuana patient, this was a huge turn off. Her "facts" about marijuana were really just common myths, it was disappointing to hear a medical professional know so little about a drug that many patients rely on. I felt judged for using medicine that works better for me than common over the counter medicines.
This doctor is probably a great fit for some people but if you use marijuana for any reason, they will discourage that.

Appointment was kept short and sweet. Staff is very friendly, and the secretary up front took time to work out insurance issues with me. Although it did feel a bit weird being told to completely undress, when Dr. Rao only checked my ears and mouth...

She seems to be a very smart person. I like the fact that she didnt push medications as a first intervention. The idea that there may be other alternatives makes me feel like she wants to treat people rather than push them aside and hand them a script. It was a new experience and I appreciate all she has to offer. With this being my first appointment I hope she keeps this impression (which it seems like she will) for as along as she is my doctor.
