I can't speak highly enough of my experience with Dr. Shepelyak and this practice as a whole. The first thing he was: "You can tell me everything. Take your time." How often do you hear that in a medical office these days? He was thorough and understanding, and found an interest that we have in common so I felt totally seen and fully respected. If this is the direction in which healthcare is heading, we'll all be in very good hands.

More about Dr. Yuriy Shepelyak, MD

OUT OF NETWORK ONLY (except MEDICARE) Dr Shepelyak (born in Ukraine, raised in Brooklyn) is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation doctor with fellowship training in Sports and Spine Medicine. He became interested in musculoskeletal medicine even before before medical school, when he traveled to India for 6 months to study and become a licensed yoga teacher. The experience continues to influence his approach to medicine to this day. Dr Shepelyak believes in taking a holistic approach to medicine; he combines mainstream medicine with alternative treatments such as acupuncture, which he is also licensed in. In addition, he strongly believes in creating a tailored made treatment plan for each patient, personalizing the treatment based on ability and and need. Dr. Shepelyak tries to avoid using steroids/cortisone as much as possible and is a strong proponent of the body’s natural ability to heal itself through plant-based and regenerative injections, instead often using platelet rich plasma, prolotherapy, and stem cells. His injections are ultrasound-guided or fluoroscopy/x-ray guided. Dr. Shepelyak sees his primary goal as helping patients maximize function, minimize pain and improve stability when the underlying condition can’t be reversed or treated.
