More about Zariel Grullon, RDN
Zariel’s interest in nutrition started in the home. She saw the role nutrition played in helping folks manage their chronic diseases with her mother, while also experiencing how her personal relationship with food was altered as the family's gordita. It’s because of these two dynamics that she pursued nutrition to learn more about food—especially the cultural foods she grew up with—and understand the impact they have on our well-being.
Zariel’s training in Medical Nutrition Therapy supports clients with a variety of conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, constipation, as well as disease prevention and overall wellness. This is important to Zariel because she knows it’s her job as your dietitian to help you reclaim not only the foods you love but also feel empowered by them and supported on your journey to ditching la dieta and loving your chichos. She finds the most joy in her work when she gets to support folks on their journey, especially when she can extend it to her Spanglish-speaking community.
Zariel graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey with a BS in Biology, Montclair State University with a BS in Nutrition, and completed her Dietetic Internship at the City University of New York School of Public Health.
When she’s not talking to folks about food, you can find her practicing her drawings, working on her passion projects, exploring her new hometown, and cuddling with her dog Tuna.
