Cedars Functional Medicine LLC
🧠 Dr. Juliana Nahas, MD, FAAP, FMACP
Board-Certified Pediatrician • Functional Medicine Certified Provider
Founder & Medical Director, Cedars Functional Medicine (FL)
Dr. Juliana Nahas is a transformational integrative physician and functional medicine specialist dedicated to healing the brain–body connection in children, teens, and young adults up to age 24. As the founder of Cedars Functional Medicine in Florida, she helps young people with anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, mood dysregulation, trauma-related symptoms, and complex neuropsychiatric or neuroimmune conditions find clarity, balance, and true healing.
Recognized for her ability to “connect the dots” when emotional and behavioral symptoms seem confusing, overlapping, or unexplained, Dr. Nahas works at the intersection of biology, psychology, environment, and nervous system health. Families describe her as the doctor who finally explains why their child is struggling — and what can actually be done about it.
Her approach replaces quick fixes and fragmented care with something deeper: a compassionate, scientifically grounded, root-cause model that honors the whole person and restores a sense of possibility.

Background
Dr. Nahas’ path into integrative psychiatry and functional medicine was shaped by years of caring for children and teens whose emotional or behavioral symptoms were often misunderstood or inadequately treated. She saw young people cycling through diagnoses, medications, therapies, and school interventions — yet the underlying causes of their distress were rarely explored.
She noticed patterns others overlooked:
• anxiety tied to gut inflammation,
• mood swings linked to immune activation,
• attention problems rooted in sleep disruption or toxins,
• irritability or OCD flares connected to infections or environmental exposure,
• trauma amplifying physical symptoms,
• and hormones, nutrition, and stress profoundly affecting brain chemistry.
Families were overwhelmed. Teens felt unheard. And the system too often blamed the child instead of asking deeper questions.
These experiences awakened her Heroic Unique Identity:
to become the catalyst who helps young people reclaim their mental clarity, emotional resilience, and personal power — and helps families understand that healing is possible.
Through advanced training in functional psychiatry, neuroimmune disorders, environmental medicine, brain-gut science, trauma-informed care, metabolic and nutritional psychiatry, and resilience-based behavioral health, she built a model that addresses the biological, emotional, and environmental roots of mental health.

Care Philosophy
At Cedars Functional Medicine, Dr. Nahas practices from five guiding truths:
✨ Mental health is physical health.
Brain symptoms frequently arise from disruptions in the gut, immune system, hormones, sleep cycles, stress physiology, toxic exposures, or nutrient deficiencies.
✨ Labels describe — but do not define — a child.
ADHD, anxiety, OCD, depression, PANS/PANDAS, or “behavior issues” are starting points, not destinies.
✨ The brain heals when the whole system heals.
Supporting digestion, inflammation, sleep, microbiome, hormones, and nervous system regulation is essential for emotional recovery.
✨ Families deserve clarity and partnership.
Dr. Nahas works closely with parents, teens, therapists, and schools to create a plan that aligns with the child’s life and goals.
✨ Hope is medicine.
She holds steady belief in each child’s potential — even when the path has been long or complicated.
Her approach is validating, compassionate, and deeply thorough, blending cutting-edge science with heartfelt connection.
