Throughout my career, I realized that while I do many things competently, I excel at some and chose to focus on honing those strengths. I love working with motivated clients who come to therapy with specific issues, rather than those seeking to simply explore, do deep trauma work, or discuss issues as they arise in session. To better serve these clients, I expanded my training to specialize in solution-focused brief therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy- all time-limited approaches.
Does this mean therapy with me will feel rushed or like a band-aid? Absolutely not! We collaborate to set and achieve your treatment goals, and I often find that both my clients and I recognize when it's time to graduate from treatment around the same time. I will never end services solely because your “time is up.” That would be both unprofessional and unethical. My door is always open, and I welcome clients returning months or years later with new issues or for check-ins.
Several studies have shown that short-term therapies are roughly as effective as longer treatments, with sustained outcomes comparable to those of extended therapy. Beyond managing immediate concerns, therapy with me builds resilience and empowerment. It also helps you develop metacognition-the ability to think about your thinking. These skills are therapeutic gifts that can last a lifetime.
I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Adler University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and expertise to provide effective, compassionate care tailored to your needs.
