After coming across OT while volunteering at the VA in high school, I learned to appreciate the importance of our everyday activities and how essential they are - both to who we are and how we interact with the world. Being able to have a helping and healing hand in someone's recovery and maybe even rediscovery of meaningful activities that they may have thought they would not be able to do anymore, is what's kept and keeps me interested and appreciative of OT. Now, my interests lie in promoting and validating justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion within the OT field - and, of course, ensuring everyone knows how important it is to take care of their hands.
