Dr. Aleksandr Dekhtyarev received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from New York Institute of Technology in 2008. At the start of his career, he’s worked at Kingsbrook Medical Center where he was recognized as the “Employee of the Year” for his work ethic and experience. During this time, he was able to hone his skills in traumatic brain injury, cardiac rehabilitation, post-surgical orthopedic rehabilitation, and bedside treatment. Dr. Dekhtyarev successfully juggled working at Kingsbrook and as a home care physical therapist for both early intervention and long-term care. When time permitted, he mentored in the hospitals and was an adjunct professor at NYIT where he taught students and medical residents. Dr. Dekhtyarev spearheaded a mentor program at “Back to Health Physical and Occupational Therapy” for Doctorate students and medical residents currently enrolled at NYIT and Columbia University.
Dr. Dekhtyarev focuses on the unique needs of each patient when creating a treatment program specific to their lifestyle, functional limitations, and goals. He does not only helps patients to recover but also teaches them to prevent future injuries. He has been applauded for being available at any time of day or night, to his current patients as well as those that have been discharged from his care.
Dr. Dekhtyarev is a Member of the American Physical Therapy Association. He is committed to improving his techniques and skills. He attends numerous continuing-education courses specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine as well as pediatric physical therapy. Dr. Dekhtyarev has recently earned the prestigious Orthopedic Manual Therapy Certification (COMT). He will be joining just 50 others with this honor in the entire state of New York.
