More about Alfred Burnett, LCSW
Having walked the path, and experienced my own journey of emotional and spiritual growth for many years, from facing my childhood wounds, I know very well what it takes to walk this challenging path. My approach is eclectic, active, supportive, and empathic. You will be challenged. I'm not one to sit there, nod my head, present with a blank affect, and ask you to tell me more. I view therapy as a co-creation. In other words, I'm instrumental in helping create an emotionally safe environment to facilitate your growth.
Much of my focus in my practice is with men, guiding, facilitating, mentoring and challenging men to live in their authenticity. Further, I lead a men's group every other week, my other specialty is working with couples, as well as the LGBT community.
My background is diverse, ethnically, occupationally, and athletically. I was born and raised in NYC by a Puerto Rican mother and Caucasian father. I was Fortunate to earn a college football scholarship, and Obtained my MSW from Fordham University and earned a Doctorate at Novasouthastern University. Occupationally I've worked in a variety of settings from inpatient psychiatric facilities, outpatient hospital settings, residential treatment facilities, and mental health emergency services, having worked with police responding to 911 mental health calls.
