More about Amanda Welter, DPT
I grew up in Oregon, swimming and running competitively in school, which sparked my interest in sports rehab. After earning a degree in exercise and sport science at Oregon State University, I traveled to South Africa to gain experience in a hospital setting and was awe-struck by the physical therapists I worked with there. Inspired by them, I went on to pursue a doctorate in physical therapy at Regis University in Denver before returning to Oregon. I chose The Portland Clinic for my practice because of the clinic’s comprehensive approach, which allows me to work closely with multiple specialties to provide optimal care.
My interest in physical therapy was sparked, in part, by the idea that we can heal through the use of our own body and mind. I think the most important aspect of my practice is teaching patients about their problems and providing them with the tools to self-manage in a way that fits their lifestyle. I incorporate manual therapy, exercise prescriptions and pain education to achieve sustainable results.
I have special interests in persistent pain, women’s health and running-related injuries. I enjoy treating a wide variety of conditions and believe that this makes me a better provider. I recognize that we live in a stressful society, and I aim to integrate stress management into my treatment to facilitate better healing.
In my free time, I enjoy running, hiking, camping and cooking (mostly eating) with my friends and family. I utilize social support, meditative techniques and yoga for my own stress management, and I like to incorporate these into my treatment approach, as well.
The insurance update will be a full replacement of current insurances, not in addition to current insurances.
