My therapeutic approach is about meeting people where they are, and engaging each individual in a healing dialogue that is appropriate and specific to his or her life. I am a process-oriented therapist. This means that I am primarily interested in understanding the process th?rough which my clients respond to the world and how they make meaning out of their experiences. My goal is to facilitate increased awareness in my clients and improve agency, choice, and connection in their lives.
I received my Master of Science degree from McDaniel College in Maryland in counseling and my Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University. I work with individually with adults and adolescents using a humanistic approach while using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches, and trauma informed approaches such as Trauma Focused-CBT and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Reiki.
I focus on the therapeutic experience on the premise that there is no prescription for therapy. I do not believe people are defined by a single experience. Rather, I feel that every individual and their life experiences are unique. I try to emphasize strengths and encourage clients to draw from their past experiences in order to help them better understand their current choices, feelings, and relationships. However, the nature and course of
the therapeutic work is determined by each client’s unique needs, goals and request.
