Benjamin Bookie, LPC

Psychotherapist
MI
My name is Ben Bookie, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Cedarville University and completed my Master of Arts in Counseling at Cornerstone University in 2015. My approach to therapy is person-centered and eclectic, as we work together to discover what works best for you. I focus on areas such as anxiety, depression, relationships, trauma, men’s issues, and life changes. I utilize many therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT-informed techniques, cognitive processing therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I work with a wide range of people and conditions, including personality disorders and attachment issues. In sessions, I strive to be authentic and personable, creating a safe and relaxing environment where you feel comfortable. I have wanted to be a therapist since ninth grade. After completing my undergraduate degree, I worked in a transitional living program with juveniles in the foster care and juvenile justice systems. This experience led me to work in children’s services with the State of Michigan. Since earning my master’s degree, I have worked in private practice, community mental health, and the prison system. I am curious about people and love supporting others as they heal wounds and create the life they want. Therapy is for you and about you. Together, we will create goals, and you will be in control of what you want to work on. Many people feel anxious during their first session. While we will discuss what brought you to therapy and your hopes for treatment, we will also focus on building our therapeutic relationship.
