Brian is a great physical therapist who works with your goals to get you where you want. He has an Olympic weight lifting background which makes him great to work with if you are young and athletic and he also has an older clientele. Highly recommended.

Very good visit

Brian is the best! He's got a heavy hand, which I find to be more effective than the usual walking-on-eggshells that therapists take to rehabilitating you. Brian knows what he's doing and as a former athlete, he knows how the body works and how to get it in top form.

Been to almost every physical therapy office in Bay Ridge, got prescriptions and evaluations, Brian hands on, extremely cares for his patients time and feelings, makes sure you're comfortable and always smiling great therapist. I'm lucky to have found him!

Brian is very professional and knowledgeable.
This is by far the best physical therapist I ever went to in my entire life span so far! Dr. Brian Mabrey is helping me with post operative right reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. His consultation was surely different from any other physical therapist I went to. He measured in details my LEFT foot, ankle, and leg with measuring tape and an L-Shape ruler which I will be undergoing surgery in over a month from now, and then measured my RIGHT side that I already had surgery to compare and kinda get like a before and after. He measured how far I can rotate my left and right foot & ankles individually when I rotate it INWARD, OUTWARD, UP, & then DOWN. Everything was entered in his laptop that he has on wheels, similar to the ones you see in the hospital. He asked me questions, looked over my discharge papers from the 1st surgery I had for my right foot and ankle, he pressed my right foot and ankle to see where I had most of my pain, then last he put my surgerical foot and ankle inside something for me to wear for the pain I was having. I wanted to add I am currently in a walking boot with crutches, this is my 3rd month after my surgery day on May 15, so I just started walking and my ankle and foot is very sore, plus I lost my calf muscle from not walking for 2 months so it's also very weak to move. Dr. Mabrey started to already send me emails on a special home exercise program for my condition. He also wrote down a warm/cool bath he wanted me to do at home for my right foot and ankle, reason being is for circulation. He customized a plan for me that we will be doing when I ever I will see him for physical therapy and explained step by step from where we will start and where we will end once my 4 weeks of physical therapy is over. He explained the reason for each step. Once he was finish he asked if I had any questions to ask him. He took his time with me and made me feel like I was important, he is very well mannered and respectful and made sure he didn't hurt me in anyway in his examination. You can tell this man has a passion for his craft. I highly recommend him and I promise you will be happy by choosing him as your physical therapist! I know I am!

He's absolutely great in every way. He actually teaches the importance of the exercises and how they will help beyond the therapy. I will use his teachings in my future of personal workouts because it has become so motivating to push myself further.

Accuracy of treatment or diagnosis
Verified patient
Brian and his staff are attentive, knowledgeable and kind. As a physical therapist (and I've been to a few), Brian is a good combination of gentle and sturdy, he doesn't push you further than your limits. He believes in a method which works on strengthening the muscles and learning how to use the injured area correctly and efficiently. Nellie is a wonderful massage therapist. I see her weekly for treatments and can tell a major difference in areas where I had constant sharp pain, it is becoming more manageable and allowing me more movement. Since I have fibromyalgia and lupus as well as a shoulder/neck injury, I am a special case. Everyone at Step Into Stride has been supportive in my attempt at recovery and I would recommend them for physical therapy services if you want to understand how to heal your injury not just push through it.

Actually it was with one of his associates, Ron and this was the second time. He was courteous, professional and the treatment I received was terrific.

This guy is the best there ever is. I can consider him a true friend. You won't find another physical therapist that is so friendly and so professional and gets the job done quick. You can be having a ruff day coming into his place but you will be changed and so much happier and so more excited about life afterwards. His place feels like home to me. I had an injury 2 weeks ago and today,I can say proudly , I am ready to get back out there even stronger. You have to come to his place.

This guy is a true friend, and the best physical therapist out there. I've had a few other physical therapists before Brian but I was never getting healed; always getting hurt ,etc. Once coming to Brian, I can honestly say that his place is like a home to me. I feel very comfortable with Brian. His personality represents what should be in everyone: true enjoyment when meeting people . Also, he does a great job at getting you to full recovery fast and helps you every step of the way. I happy very lucky to have him as my therapist and lucky to have him as a true friend.

I have never gotten so much out of a visit with a PT before. Brian quickly identified the cause of my heel pain, and we got right into treating it. Along the way he explained what we were doing to fix it (breaking down scar tissue and rebuilding the tendon, surprisingly painless). He also answered a ton of questions I had regarding weightlifting and flexibility. As I was doing the exercises we delved into my background as an athlete and discussed injuries I've had in the past. We came up with some bad patterns and discussed a general strategy for fixing them. I'd highly recommend Brian to anyone looking for a good PT.

Really awesome guy. Extremely cool and helpful!
It was a nice experience. The facilities are very clean and calming. Brian works with you, one to one. During the treatment he communicates with you, adjusting the program and informing you on what he will do next and why. I was able to ask questions without feeling uncomfortable. His techniques are very effective. He helped me return to work. After this experience I wouldn't go anywhere else for therapy.
Brian has amazing hands. I threw out my back, he adjusted it using manual therapy. Provided home exercise through a video I view through my email. I would not go anywhere else.
My visit went better than I planned. I was seen at the exact time of my appointment. Brian was very informative and professional. The office was squeaky clean. What I like the most is that Brian was an athlete himself so he understands how important getting back to 100% is to me. I'm very happy I chose him as my physical therapist.

very pleasant informative session

The people at Step Into Stride are very pleasant and caring. In the past, other physical therapy offices would apply stim pads and hot pacs, without giving the full attention to the exercise portion. At Step Into Stride, I have both a great program that Brian implemented as well as stim/hot pacs. He is the only therapist at Step Into Stride and would immediately notice any change in your body. I would totally recommend Step Into Stride for physical therapy.
