More about Britta Starke, LCSW
Welcome to Full Life Counseling and to a journey for which I hope you find worth taking.
My name is Britta Starke. I have had the pleasure of being in the behavioral health field for 25 years. I have worked with people of all ages from 6 – 80 years young. I have spent the last 13 years working with folks ages 14 and up. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with individuals with co-occurring medical diagnoses that are present in addition to other emotional challenges or substance use concerns. I have been a licensed clinical social worker and a licensed addictions therapist since 2008.
I have been trained in Family Systems therapy since 2013, and it is a true passion of mine in my work. I have a significant amount of trauma informed training. I also utilize my training in the neurobiology of anxiety disorders, PTSD, addiction, and developmental disorders. The inner workings of the brain and why we are drawn towards certain things, is fascinating to me and I enjoy weaving it into treatment when desired and helpful. Additionally, I am trained in EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Enhancement Therapy.
I can provide this information but when the rubber meets the road, it is solely my job to help you find hope, light, vision, and balance. These things are found through establishing a trusting therapeutic relationship, and a sense of connection and authenticity. Without that, it doesn’t matter what model of treatment we decide to weave in. So, maybe, really, I’m just a vehicle to hope and a non-judgmental listener.
I absolutely relish the opportunity to help 40 somethings and up through transitions in life. This is an area that has fallen in my lap over the past several years, and I welcome those opportunities
