Carmen Holley is a Social Worker and Mental Health Consultant for Lurie Children’s Center for Childhood Resilience (CCR). With 20 years of experience, Ms. Holley’s work has included clinical and case management services, as well as healing-centered group interventions for children and adolescents in residential, early care and school settings. At CCR, she works collaboratively with schools and community agencies to establish best practice systems and structures to create and maintain healing-centered child and youth serving classrooms and organizations.
Ms. Holley provides consultation, training and coaching in evidence-based interventions including Anger Coping, Cognitive Behavior Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS), Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS) and Think First. She has expertise working with early care providers and early childhood teachers to establish trauma-responsive and culturally attuned practices through training and reflective consultation. Ms. Holley is a highly accomplished national trainer and thought leader in healing-centered care, advocacy, school-based mental health services, and school-community collaborations.
Ms. Holley is a 2019-2020 Barbara Bowman Leadership Fellow in the Erikson Institute’s Early Childhood Leadership Academy. She serves as a member of Sesame Street in Communities Advisory Board on Community Violence. Ms. Holley is the corresponding author of the “Ready to Learn Through Relationships” Framework and Toolkit for Early Childhood Educators.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Xavier University in Louisiana, and a Master of Social Work from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration.
