Getting to know Rachel Justie

Rachel is a Certified Sex Therapist and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who works with individuals and couples seeking meaningful, lasting change. She supports clients navigating challenges with relationships, dating, sex/intimacy, major life transitions, as well as those dealing with anxiety, depression, and other mood-related concerns. As an AASECT certified sex therapist, she helps address issues related to desire, arousal, orgasm, sexual pain, communication, and the impact of stress, trauma, or identity on sexual well-being. Her approach is sex-positive and trauma-informed, emphasizing emotional safety, consent, collaboration, and respect.

What should a new client know about working with you?

With a blend of empathy and directness, Rachel offers a supportive, solution-focused approach. She works with clients in an attuned, collaborative way, moving at a pace that feels comfortable while helping them stay focused on their goals. Rachel uses evidence-based techniques to help clients gain insight, build skills and reconnect with themselves and/or their partner(s), fostering growth, resilience and stronger relationships.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy begins with an intake session focused on building rapport, understanding your history and current concerns, and setting goals. Rachel helps clients gain insight into patterns that may be holding them back and collaborates to determine the most effective evidence-based approach—whether emotion-focused, solution-focused, or another method—tailored to each client’s unique needs. Ongoing sessions explore current concerns, provide psychoeducation, and offer personalized skill-building to support growth, resilience, and goal achievement. Couples counseling is a supportive space where partners can talk openly about their relationship, work through key conflicts and strengthen their connection. Rachel helps clients to identify cycles and patterns that may be causing tension, misunderstandings or ruptures and guides them in building communication skills, conflict resolution skills and improving intimacy (whether emotional, intellectual, sexual etc.). Rachel takes an unbiased, non-blaming approach, viewing the couple as the client rather than assigning fault to either partner. Sex therapy can look similar to her general approach but usually begins with taking a comprehensive sexual history of the client(s), including experiences, patterns, and concerns around sexual function (desire, arousal, orgasm, pain). Rachel utilizes the biopsychosocial model (biology, psychology, sociocultural, interpersonal) to help clients explore predisposing, precipitating, maintaining and contextual factors related to sex. She then helps clients develop practical strategies, communication skills, and personalized exercises to improve sexual satisfaction, connection, and confidence. Sessions are tailored to each client’s goals, fostering a safe, non-judgmental space to address challenges and enhance intimacy with oneself and/or one’s partner(s).

I am so thankful to have found Rachel as my therapist and recommend her to everyone! She really helps break down my worries and helps me create a plan or different way of thinking to allow me to truly live my life. Thanks so much for everything!
I found Rachel extremely easy to communicate with and would strongly recommend her to other people. She is respectful of my time and made me feel completely at ease discussing anything that was on my mind! It is truly a judgement FREE zone!
Very dissappointed. We both confirmed the appointment for Saturday a week prior. However, on the day of the appointment, she never showed up. I waited for 15 minutes in the video chat room. I also checked my email to see if she had messaged me, but nothing. I ended up emailing her after 30 minutes later and she said she had a vet emergency with her dog. It would have been nice to at least get a message that she wouldn't make her appointment prior to making me wait so long. I had rearranged my Saturday for this appointment.
