I earned my Master's degree in Counseling from Angelo State University and a Bachelor's degree in Human Development through Southwestern Christian University. I have over 15 years of experience as a teacher and school counselor here in North Texas. I am certified as a school counselor and bilingual teacher through the Texas Education Agency, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas, issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.
I believe life is a process that is continually changing. My goal is to help clients get through these challenging times by providing effective counseling approaches. By aligning the client's goals with the proper treatment plan, we can work together to overcome some of life's personal circumstances. Having open and honest communication between client and counselor is key to a successful relationship. A few of the therapeutic approaches I utilize are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Family Systems, Sand Play, Art Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
Some of my favorite activities include watching football, hockey, and baseball; reading murder mystery novels; watching action-packed movies; and most of all, spending time with my two sons and puppy.

Carmen was awesome and very accurate as to what her plan of care would be for me. She was very attentive and let me speak and was very understanding as to my situation and intake went very well. I would recommend this provider and cannot wait for my next visit.
