Casey Kanarek is a trauma-focused therapist who has three years of experience working with children and adolescents in the foster care system. Casey has extensive experience and training in the field of mental health and is able to work with a myriad of emotional and behavioral problems. Casey is a Certified Sex Offense Treatment Provider and is trained in one of the most effective evidence-based trauma interventions, EMDR. Casey has a passion for helping individuals and families heal from trauma and separation.
Casey's extensive experience working with individuals with complex trauma has provided her with the experience and skills needed to address a myriad of emotional problems such as depression and anxiety. Her trauma-informed approach provides a safe, nurturing, and affirming environment to explore, gain insight, and develop the skills needed to address challenges in academic and work environments, relationships, and daily life.
Casey focuses on using a relational approach and attachment-based, trauma-informed perspective, and she believes that the first step in the therapeutic journey is understanding yourself and gaining deeper awareness and insight into the unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that tend to keep us feeling "stuck". From that point forward, Casey encourages emotional processing as well as building a toolbox of healthy coping skills to better navigate life.
Casey's top priority in therapy is making the client feel validated, encouraged and seen. Casey seeks to establish a warm and welcoming therapeutic environment by normalizing the ups and downs (and everything in between) of the human experience. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable enough to authentically and unapologetically be themselves, and have a safe space to be able to find their own path to happiness and fulfillment. Casey values individuality and she supports individuals to feel empowered to live their truth and be able to prioritize their own happiness and self-love.
