Hi, my name is Christine Ponec, Licensed Marriage, and Family Therapist. With 19 years as a licensed therapist, I am here to provide you with support, and empathy and to listen non-judgmentally. I also use compassion as you work toward making the changes you desire. Whether it be depression, relationship struggles, anxiety, etc. please reach out to schedule a session.
My counseling style is warm, understanding, supportive/empathetic, and non-judgmental. I like to meet you where you are at and identify strengths and build on those strengths. I also work to help you find an improved understanding of challenges going on in your life and help problem-solve. My approach is an eclectic counseling style in which I incorporate person-centered, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and solution-focused into sessions, however, I will do my best to utilize a theory that fits best with your unique needs.
I like to work with adults by helping them to identify the life challenges they are experiencing and work toward realistic goals.
I listen in a non-judgmental way and my style is person-centered. The tone of my sessions is to meet the clients where they are at.
My journey to becoming a therapist came from my upbringing. I am a middle child and acted as a peacemaker within my family. I have always loved to listen to others who were experiencing hard times or needed someone to talk to. I feel I am a good listener and listen in a non-judgmental way.
Successful care and progress depend on what the clients identified goals/problems/desires are. I prefer to be realistic when working collaboratively with clients to identify treatment goals, so the goals can be attainable. When a client is able to report feeling better or having improved functioning with any identified treatment goals/problems/desires, this is when we review the progress that has been made in therapy and reinforce the successful care and progress that has been made.
