More about Corissa Barrow, LMFT Associate

Corissa Barrow is supervised by Heather Timmis. Have there been things you wish you could talk about with friends and loved ones but don’t feel comfortable sharing? Are you struggling in your relationships and finding it difficult to communicate your thoughts, feelings, and needs? Maybe you’ve started to push your feelings aside and now find yourself with low self-esteem, feeling down, angry, or resentful. Perhaps you and your partner are caught in the same pattern of arguments and need help. Whether it is anxiety, depression, communication, intimacy, infidelity, work-life balance, all of the above, or none of the above, you just want relief. As a psychotherapist with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Houston, Clear Lake, my work is driven by the deeply held belief that change is possible and your current circumstances do not have to dictate your future. My aim is for you to feel accepted, understood, and empowered. I believe in creating a warm, non-judgmental, and authentic space where you feel safe to explore and express yourself. Because we are each built differently, I apply an integrative approach to tailor each treatment to your needs and help you build a toolbox toward feeling better. My strength-based and affirmative approach uses elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, Sex Therapy, Problem-solving Therapy, and VR Therapy. I truly believe the connection you have with your therapist is critical. Our therapeutic relationship, along with my nurturing style, can be reparative in improving or accepting other aspects of your life. I welcome you to schedule a consultation to see if I am the right fit for you.

Worth every minute, Cori made it really easy to open up right away! She’s made it easier for me to cope and understand myself during this rough time. I’ll be back to continue progressing towards healing.
Cori Barrow is compassionate, thoughtful and professional. She helps me navigate my issues providing skills, coping mechanisms and strategies to improve my mental health, and the contexts in my life with which I struggle. I'm grateful for her knowledge and wisdom.
I was apprehensive to go to therapy; the concept was foreign to me as I was raised to believe that men do not go to therapy. At a pretty low point of my life, I finally decided to find a therapist. I went to two different therapists that I felt did not get me. My friend referred me to Cori, I was not expecting to click with a therapist, but I did! Cori's presence is familiar and made me feel accepted. Seeing Cori has helped me navigate the complexities of my situation, which has helped me grow and improved every aspect of my life. Cori is simply amazing.
My experience with Corissa has been invaluable for my personal growth! I highly recommend her! I’m an analytical and functional type of person, so I always appreciated when my therapist provided studies to help me navigate different challenges in my life. I will forever be grateful for this practice and Cori!
