Gayla Campbell, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
Hi there, I'm Gayla! My name is Dr. Campbell, and I am an LPC with a Master of Education in Professional Counseling from West Texas A&M University. Compassion, empathy, and logic are primary in my approach. I can use most therapy skills, but I prefer CBT. **My approach** Though CBT is the most used therapy, I also use grief therapy, EMDR, motivational interviewing, and others depending on the situation and what my client gets the most benefit from. **My focus** Most of my clients are dealing with life transitions, depression, anxiety, setting boundaries, trauma, grief, and life circumstances that are keeping them stuck. **My communication style** Most of my clients have stated that they appreciate the calm atmosphere and the safety of being able to say what they need to say. **My journey to mental healthcare** I worked in a probation office years ago and realized that I was doing counseling, but I had no idea what I was doing. I enjoy helping people live their best lives, so I went to school to get the necessary credentials. I have been doing this for 41 years and love what I do. **My goals for you** I like my clients to set their own goals, and then we set up smaller goals to get them to the bigger goal. Goals are a team effort, but the client has to be willing to do the work. **My first session with you** The first session is used to build rapport. The client needs to have their questions ready so that they can make sure we are a good fit. We will use the time to get to know each other and to have a loose plan of what therapy will accomplish.
