Dr. Crista Scaturro is a clinical psychologist and lifelong New Yorker who specializes in helping clients navigate life transitions. She earned her PhD in psychology from Long Island University – Brooklyn, after attaining her MA from George Washington University and her BA from American University.
Prior to joining Dwellness, Crista worked as a therapist in a variety of settings and with many different populations, all across the lifespan. Working with such diverse groups of people, experiencing such varied symptoms and challenges, has led Crista to believe that no two therapy cases are alike, and that successful therapy requires an individualized approach. In addition to working for Dwellness, Crista is also a staff psychologist at South Beach Psychiatric Center on Staten Island, where she is the psychologist for the child and adolescent inpatient unit.
Crista’s therapeutic work is rooted in psychodynamic theory, particularly attachment theory. However, she has training in many different psychological paradigms including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and incorporates many of these techniques in her work.
