I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, with my MSFT training completed in 1996. My joy in life has been helping so many with skills for their life goals and ongoing growth!
My approach
My focus is on helping clients process their goals for therapy. I use their goals for building skills, specifically, the understanding of the impact of the multiple systems within their daily lives. Creating a judgment-free space to address 'automatic negative thoughts' and let go of 'inappropriate guilt' may be one of the most urgent needs for most clients I've had the honor of helping!
My focus
My clients have reported depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, personality disorders, and acute or complicated grief. My years of working in mental health settings, within the foster systems (additional trauma training), have added to my integrated approach. Clients decide which goals to work on first, and we change them as needed! Clients of all ethnicities, prior diagnoses, along with 1st time seeking therapy or years of benefiting from it, have all been an honor to meet and assist!
My communication style
My focus is on safety in sessions, calming tones, and the use of reflective listening to model and let them experience being heard in a secure place. I have multiple testimonies from clients of how they enjoyed our sessions, they report that they feel my genuine caring or support mattered the most! They appreciate my gentle spirit that speaks the truth, always, for their stated goals of therapy.
My journey to mental healthcare
Initially, I was an HRM for an aerospace 'offload' company. When my husband wanted to acquire more training, his training as a pastor didn't prepare him for the issues of those who sought his help; I suggested that I go as well. Employees often sought my help with issues within and without: addictions, relationships, grief, etc.
