I have seen Dr. Zeitlin for a number of years and found him to be extremely compassionate, insightful, thoughtful, intelligent, and empathic. He has helped and supported me in a number of areas including my relationships with my partner, family, children, co-workers, and friends. He has listened with interest, caring, and patience to my concerns, allowing me the space and freedom to sort through and explore my feelings. I have received a great deal from Dr. Zeitlin and am grateful for the time I have been able to work with him.

Dennis J. Zeitlin, M.D. is an award winning Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCSF; a Board Certified Psychiatrist; a teacher and workshop leader who has presented on psychotherapy issues for decades locally, nationally, and internationally; and a psychotherapist who for 40+ years has maintained a full-time practice, which includes individual therapy, couples therapy, group therapy, family therapy, psychopharmacology, and consultation.
As a Johns Hopkins–trained physician and UCSF-trained psychiatrist, Dr. Zeitlin has great respect for mind-body interaction. His warm, flexible, collaborative, empathic therapeutic approach integrates many schools of psychotherapy. The approach, modality, frequency, and possible use of medication with psychotherapy is tailored to your particular needs and objectives.
In an atmosphere of psychological safety, you will be encouraged to explore issues in depth; to acquire insight into troublesome patterns and beliefs; and to have emotional experiences in therapy that foster growth and the attainment of your goals.
After your online appointment request, an initial free phone call follows. If Dr. Zeitlin feels he can be of help, and you agree, 1-3 meetings will enable a recommendation regarding the advisability of ongoing psychotherapy. If you both feel you would be a good team, plans for ongoing therapy are made. Dr. Zeitlin does not treat ADD/ADHD. PLEASE NOTE: Dr. Zeitlin will phone you after your online request. Am I healthier today, mentally or emotionally, than I was when I first became Dr. Zeitlin's patient? Remarkably so. I am an old dog, yet he has clearly taught me things that my previous life experience did not. He chaperoned me through several major events in my life. I can attest to the fact that my approach to these events, my attitude about them and even their eventual outcome would have been different without his guidance. I greatly value our relationship.

I have seen Dr. Zeitlin for more than 5 years, and in that time he has directly handled both my medication and therapy sessions. This integrated approach has been the right one for me. I find Dr. Zeitlin to be wise, empathetic and insightful. He has helped me to make the decisions in my career that have greatly enhanced my happiness and my sense of ease. In business, I have found Dr. Zeitlin's analysis to be invaluable in evaluating opportunities and the intentions of counterparties. Over my time in therapy our dialogue has been fruitful in addressing issues with my children, my overall health, sexuality, as well as career.
