This was the first psych I have ever had that wanted to talk about my life experiences and how I perceive my emotions rather than what prescriptions I’ve taken and if it worked.
He talked to me like therapists do, he really tried to understand me and who I was. the appointment was an hour and I’m grateful- normally psych appointments are 30 minute time slots and the psych will be there 10 minutes and dip.

Unfortunately I do not recommend Dr.Vazirian. I am not sure why people say he is empathetic because he is definitely not. During our first meeting, he frequently interrupted me when I was trying to give him background information, kept insisting me to answer his long standard checklist questions instead of listening to my situation. When I was telling my stories he seemed very distracted and genuinely disinterested. During diagnoses, he first said I don’t have depression then later told me I have depression and should be on meds. When asked to clarify he couldn’t really articulate very well why he made the diagnoses and changed it. I also told him about having low moods during periods but instead of having period each month my OBGYN put me on a BC schedule that makes me have period once every 3 months. He didn’t know how to deal with that at all. He rushed me to end the meeting exactly at 1h even though he was late. In general my experience was very negative and I do not recommend him

Dr. Vazirian listens to you thoroughly and explains everything in such an informative way that you aren’t left with any questions. He went over the issues I was having and explained each medication to me in great detail. I had an excellent experience and I would definitely suggest him to others.

Super helpful and understanding. He takes the time to work with you and listens to what you have to say.
**Bonus for women out there with demanding jobs--I've found some doctors equate my stress to "you just work too much" or "you just need to sleep more or take more time off". Whereas men with the same jobs often are praised for discussing their feelings and their stress is taken more seriously... Dr. Vazarian doesn't do that. Not once did I feel judged for doing the job that I love. He truly listens, hears you, digs deeper and wants to help. He is pretty great in many ways but this was one that stood out to me.
