Aloha, my name is Erean (Pronounced Erin) Larry-Fiakpuyi, I'm a licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of California and Hawaii. I have over 20 years of experience in trauma-focused care.
My approach
In my practice I utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal therapy, EMDR, and Solutions Focused therapy techniques. I embrace a holistic approach knowing that a healthy mind, body, and sprit promotes healing. My focus is on trauma-informed care, particularly issues stemming from developmental traumas that are affecting current functioning and relationships. I work with individuals to overcome wounds experienced in childhood. In session, we'll focus on the challenges that occur in life when we feel misunderstood. I take a collaborative approach, and work with you to promote healing. I embrace diversity in cultures, genders, and sexuality. I provide a safe, and supportive environment for opening up and discussing your thoughts and feelings.
My focus
Generally, I work with individuals who have experienced historical or recent traumas. I address issues related to anxiety, depression, perinatal mood disorders, and self-harm behaviors.
My communication style
In practice, I set an environment where clients can feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. I believe in a collaborative approach with clients. For me, the client is the expert when it comes to their experiences.
My journey to mental healthcare
I stated my career working in county Child Welfare, later moved on to Forensic Investigation within the Child Welfare system. After graduate school I focused on mental health and addressing issues related to developmental traumas that may persist throughout the lifespan.
My goals for you
Early in the sessions I explain the goals that will be outlined in the clients Treatment Plan. In collaboration with the client these goals are identified and agreed upon.
