About Eric Finkelstein

Eric Finkelstein earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Ithaca College, where he also received his bachelor's degree in Clinical Health Studies with a minor in Exercise Science. Eric's clinical experience includes working in orthopedics, neurological rehabilitation, return-to-sport, injury prevention, and pediatrics. Toward the end of his time at Ithaca, Eric conducted research on total knee replacements and on how various patient factors affect the rehab process. Eric invested his time well at Ithaca College in his pursuit of both clinical and extracurricular activities. He worked at the college's physical therapy clinic with a soccer player rehabilitating from an ACL injury. He also helped an individual return to walking after the patient suffered a stroke. Eric became involved working with a group of his peers to build injury prevention programs for various club sports teams, including soccer, volleyball, basketball, ice hockey, equestrian, and dance. On top of his clinical experience, Eric served as a teaching assistant for Anatomy and Physiology for four years. He served as a manager for Ithaca's Women's varsity volleyball team, as well as a player and coach for the Men's Club volleyball team. Eric believes it is important to treat the whole patient; he takes a large focus on the physical aspects of a condition, taking care not to neglect any mental, emotional, or patient-specific components. He believes all of his patients deserve individualized care that caters to their specific needs and goals. He has a personal goal of optimizing the health and function of athletes, individuals with orthopedic injuries, and those with neurological conditions like Parkinson's disease, stroke, and spinal cord injury. Eric grew up on the south shore of Long Island. He loves to spend time with friends, play beach volleyball, watch TV and sports, and exercise, with hiking and running being his favorites.
