I originally wanted to become a Psychiatrist. I was always a peoples-person and I thought this would be a great way for me to connect with others and make a true difference. While working on my Bachelors I took up a few volunteer hours at a physical therapy rehabilitation facility close to my University. I loved chatting and sharing stories with the physical therapy patients. The PT patient would be warming up on a stationary bike and I was told that Wilbur (the patient’s bunny) was acting up again! Often times these same PT patients were surprised when they found out I wasn’t their actual Doctor of Physical Therapy. We had made a connection and somehow, hands-free, they were already starting to feel better!
That’s when I realized that as a Physical Therapist, by sincerely communicating with patients I could play a big role in strengthening both their physical and mental health all in one!
After achieving my Doctorate in Physical Therapy I began working in an outpatient physical therapy clinic and I was upset to see the disconnect caused by a crazy number of cancelations and rescheduling. Sarah would get too dizzy on the lengthy trip over to the clinic. Not to mention, Physical Therapy can get expensive! I was concerned that the same patients who could have used physical therapy the most were the least likely to have access to it. And in today’s fast pace lifestyle we have little to no spare time and many people may not fully understand what Physical Therapy is and what it has to offer. This was the spark for PTCONNECT Physical Therapy.
Instead of having you come to a physical therapy clinic, our team is driven to bring our physical therapy practice to you and your family and friends directly. Our goal is not to simply decrease your physical pain from 10 to 2 on a musculoskeletal pain scale. We want to openly communicate with you, connect, and join forces to help you reach your personal goals and top-notch health and wellness all-around.
