More about Dr. Gail S. Reed, PhD

I am a psychoanalyst and psychotherapist who has practiced privately for over thirty years. I see patients in French as well as in English. If you find yourself in a panic, suffer from anxiety or depression, feel trapped by obligations, struggle in relationships, feel yourself at a distance from life, or are uncertain about the direction you have chosen, the cooperative, introspective therapy I offer can help you. Prior to my long post-graduate study to become a licensed and certified psychoanalyst, I earned a PhD in Comparative Literature from Yale University. I am currently a Training and Supervisory Analyst and Faculty at the Training Institute of the Contemporary Freudian Society, the Berkshire Psychoanalytic Institute and NPAP and am an Honorary Member of the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. I have written many articles on aspects of doing this collaborative work. I have also authored two books and, with Howard Levine M.D., have edited and contributed to two more, the most recent being “Unrepresented States and the Construction of Meaning” (Karnac 2013). I am a Founding Member and President of the Group for the Study of the Psychoanalytic Process, Associate Editor for Foreign Books for and on the Editorial Board of the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association, and on the Editorial Board of The Psychoanalytic Quarterly.
