Psychotherapist

Congrats on the brave choice you have made to reach out for help! I have a passion for helping people find healing and connection in their lives and relationships. You might be looking for a therapist who seeks to understand you, be with you in hard things, and help you to move from where you are to where you want to be. Well, you have come to the right place! I offer a safe, judgment-free place for you to lay aside your image and come have a real in depth conversation about whatever may be bothering you. My counseling style is warm, engaging, and interactive. I believe in treating every person with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines client centered treatment while also often utilizing emotionally focused therapy, narrative therapy, and cognitive-behavioral counseling approaches. This is a fancy way to say that I am knowledgeable in a wide range of therapy practices and modalities. I have seen and know the pain of disconnection and the toll it takes on you, your relationship, and family. Big emotions are often prevalent: shame, loneliness, pain, and sadness among others. These are hard to manage and navigate on your own. This is part of why I became a therapist. I know how powerful it can be to have someone sit with you in your most painful place and it is an honor to be able to journey with individuals and couples to help them find healing. Since so much of the hurt in our lives happens within relationships, I believe healing must happen within the context of relationship: relationship with self, relationship with therapist, and/or relationship with others. I offer a safe environment for you to face the issues you'd like to address and heal from the things that are holding you back. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, infertility, or grief and loss, we can work together to facilitate change in your life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The most important thing I want you to know is this: my office — and our relationship — is a space built entirely around your safety and wellbeing. There is no pressure to share more than you're ready to share, no timeline you're expected to follow, and no version of yourself you need to perform. You can come as you are — hurting, uncertain, guarded, or hopeful — and that will always be enough. Many of the people I work with have carried heavy things for a long time, often alone. Part of my role is simply to be someone who can sit with you in that weight without flinching, and to help you find your way through it at a pace that feels right for you. I specialize in trauma-focused care and work primarily with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, and depression. The two main approaches I draw from are EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy). While those may sound clinical, in practice they translate to something that feels much more human — and I'll always explain what we're doing and why before we do it. I am not here to tell you what to do, fix you, or hand you a prescription for how to live your life. I believe deeply that you are the expert on your own experience. My job is to offer tools, perspective, insight, and a steady presence — and to walk alongside you as you do the real work of healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our early sessions are about building a foundation. Before we do any deeper therapeutic work, I want to get to know you — your history, your current struggles, what's brought you here, and what you're hoping for. I'll ask questions, but I'll also leave plenty of room for you to share in whatever way feels natural. We'll talk about your goals and what you'd like to be different. We'll also spend time building what therapists call "resourcing" — practical tools and grounding techniques that help you feel stable and regulated, both in session and in your everyday life. I never rush this stage. A strong foundation makes everything that comes after safer and more effective. You may find that early sessions feel more like a conversation than "therapy" in the way you might imagine it. That's intentional. Trust takes time, and I'd rather we build it properly than rush toward the hard work before you're ready. Therapy isn't always linear, and I think it's important to be honest about that. Some sessions will feel like breakthroughs; others might feel slow or stir up emotions you weren't expecting. Both are normal, and both are part of healing. I'll check in with you regularly about how things are feeling and whether our approach is working for you. EMDR is a well-researched therapy designed to help the brain process and heal from painful or traumatic memories. Many people find that experiences they've carried for years — memories that still feel raw, intrusive, or overwhelming — begin to lose their grip. We will work together in a structured but gentle way to help your nervous system do what it's actually designed to do: heal. EFT is rooted in the understanding that our emotions are not the enemy — they're messengers. Emotionally Focused Therapy helps you slow down, tune into what you're feeling beneath the surface, and make sense of emotional patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
