Dr. Harleen Bawa is a licensed Physical Therapist in New York since 2007. She specializes in the treatment of scoliosis, spine rehabiliation and musculoskeletal injuries. Harleen graduated in 2003 from a Physical Therapy program at MS Ramaiah Medical college in India. She completed her doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from University of New England. She has a varied array of post graduate certificate trainings such as Mulligan Technique, Myofascial Release, Kinesio Taping and Trigger point therapy. Harleen is certified in Schroth Scoliosis Therapy, a conservative scoliosis treatment originated in Germany. She is also a certified Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School (BSPTS) Scoliosis Therapist and an Istituto Scientifico Italiano Colonna Vertebrale(i.e. Italian Spine Scientific Institute) accredited SEAS Therapist. She is a member of Society for Scoliosis Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT).
Harleen had clinical affiliations in Jamaica hospital, Westchester Square hospital, North Shore Long Island Jewish Medical Center and a variety of clinical settings in acute rehab,acute care and outpatient rehabilitation.
Harleen believes in not just treating the condition but helping people achieve their goals and restore normal function. She utilizes an integrated manual therapy approach reinforced by therapeutic exercise and functional training. Harleen is passionate about helping those with scoliosis, conservatively to halt progression of the curve and to relieve pain. I have recommended Dr. Bawa to numerous people who, like myself, suffer from scoliosis. I have also given her cards to my other physicians who have, in turn, recommended her. The visits provide a variety of exercises, which help with pain and balance. The soft music played is relaxing, setting the mood for an excellent atmosphere.
