Dr. Burke launched the outpatient physical therapy practice at the Pain and Wellness Center in 2005 after over a decade of practicing in a wide range of disciplines. She started her career working with neurological, orthopedic, and amputee patients at rehabilitation hospitals in Boston including Spaulding Rehabilitation. She presented multiple professional training seminars on the evaluation and treatment of the spine, cardiac and orthopedic education, and developed the aquatic therapy program. The last 15 years Heather’s practice emphasizes musculoskeletal and orthopedic physical therapy care. Heather has extensive training and experience in orthopedic manual therapy and management of chronic pain. The majority of Heather’s postgraduate training includes a number of manual therapy courses on the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine incorporating Maitland and Norwegian approaches. Her professional mission is to improve quality of life for her patients by relieving pain, restoring mobility, and maximizing functional potential. She views patient education and partnering with her patients as important elements in the healing process. Recognizing that everyone is unique, Heather tailors treatments for each individual patient.
Heather currently resides on the North Shore with her husband and 3 young children. In her free time her interests include boating, skiing, and yoga.
