Chet Swanson, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist
431 River St, Unit 4, Waltham, MA
I am a dedicated physical therapist with a passion for helping patients, particularly athletes, achieve optimal performance and recovery. Raised in Boston, MA, I played competitive travel baseball as a pitcher, third baseman, and catcher. This experience led to multiple hip and shoulder injuries, which were treated by my physical therapist, who also served as my pitching coach. The successful treatment I received inspired my interest in physical therapy as a career, allowing me to support athletes and others in their rehabilitation journeys. I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) through the combined undergraduate and graduate program at Boston University’s Sargent College. During my time at BU, I competed on the collegiate sailing team, earning Academic All-American honors in my junior and senior years while training under former U.S. and Norwegian Olympic sailors. In graduate school, I balanced my studies with a role as a part-time assistant coach for the sailing team, all while completing my PT didactic coursework and clinical rotations across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. These rotations allowed me to work with patients of all ages, including high school and collegiate athletes, focusing on enhancing performance, reducing pain, and improving quality of life. In my free time, I enjoy staying active outdoors, whether throwing a baseball or football, or sailing on the water. My athletic background and professional training drive my commitment to helping patients regain strength, mobility, and confidence in their daily lives.
