Jamie has been practicing as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in South Florida since 2010. Clients who have had negative experiences with therapy in the past have described her as “the therapist for people who think they hate therapy.” She has a laid-back style and she works collaboratively with her clients to ensure they are getting what they need out of therapy. We’re not just talking about the weather in here!
Jamie’s therapeutic approach focuses on the holistic, mind-body connection. She teaches clients to evaluate how mood can be affected by food, sleep habits, and physical movement, as well as genetics, thought processes, and trauma. She has a passion for helping clients explore remedies offered through alternative medicine (i.e. acupuncture, energy work, breath work) as well as remedies offered through traditional medicine.
Jamie earned Masters degrees from both the University of Florida and Florida Atlantic University. Fun fact: Jamie graduated from her undergrad institution with a double major in Environmental Science and Biology. How is that relevant to therapy? It’s not. A little nod to those who think they “have to know” at age 18 what they plan to do when they grow up!
Jamie has received extensive training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a treatment modality that has been extensively researched and shown to be effective for the treatment of trauma as well as treatment-resistant depression and anxiety. She offers individual treatment for adolescents and adults as well as family treatment.
