I am a licensed psychologist, a psychoanalyst, and a hypnotherapist with over twenty years of experience working with adults and couples suffering from a wide range of problems. I believe that the key to creating a meaningful experience in therapy hinges on my ability to listen closely and to do my best to put myself in another person’s shoes. Only in this way can I begin to understand another’s passions and goals, and facilitate another’s self-actualization.
Although therapy is serious business, I also know that it can be uplifting. Self-revelation, when experience in the presence of another whose goal is to understand, can be life changing. There are many feelings that accompany this process; consider that one might be joy.
I am especially familiar with problems emerging from chronic childhood trauma, early hospitalizations, infertility, pregnancy, parenting, and divorce. These problems, which are so present in our society, can lead to depression, anxiety, dissociation, isolation, and despair.

Dr. Tiemann was very professional & caring. She was inquisitive w/out being pushy and gave me plenty of time to express myself. She even had some insight into my particular situation that was very helpful. I will definitely go back to Dr. Tiemann again.

Very good. Therapy is not easy. I have been to a number of therapists over the years. All of them were ultimately a disappointment. I have a very good feeling about Johanna. She combines professionalism and warmth in a way that makes me feel accepted for who I am. I cannot comment about her theoretical background, but I do believe this person knows her stuff.

All my visits with Dr. Tiemann has being positive, my life is so much better because of her knowlege, kindness, patience and warmth. She is very easy to talk to and I highly recommend her.

I have been working with Dr. Tiemann for about six months. I have been to other therapists who were helpful, but I feel that my work with Dr. Tiemann has been much more in depth and useful. I like that we can laugh together about how absurd life can be sometimes too.

I have never been to therapy before so I did not know what to expect. Dr. Tiemann's office is so homey I felt at ease immediately. She has a dog which I think is a really nice touch. She is very easy to talk to, and seemed to understand me right away.
