Having witnessed the impact of stereotypes and cultural differences throughout her travels and childhood upbringing abroad, Ms. Elliott developed a desire aimed at wanting to help alleviate suffering in those who have experienced trauma, traumatic grief, or emotionally distressing events. To persue her desire to help others on their journey of healing, Ms. Elliott received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, GA. She then earned her Masters of Science in Clinical-Counseling Psychology from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA.
While completing her Master’s degree, she worked within the hospital setting serving individuals suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts, posttraumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, and anxiety-based disorders among other things. She also worked in the partial hospitalization treatment program in order to overcome alcohol and substance abuse. While working in these capacities, she noted most individuals have experienced trauma related events in some capacity.
Since the completion of her degree, Ms. Elliott has been working in the field of Counseling since 2015, with a specific focus on trauma informed interventions and treatment. She has worked in the outpatient and intensive in-home setting while perusing licensure. She has experience working with individuals ranging from ages 5 to 70 years of age presenting with a wide variety of psychological presentations including trauma-based disorders, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, suicidal ideations, bipolar disorders, gender identity disorders, and borderline personality disorder. Understanding therapy is not one size fits all, Ms. Elliott tailors her approach to fit the unique presentation of the individuals entrusting her with their treatment.
