I've seen Kara for about a year now and she is wonderful. She is patient and knowledgable. She has helped me through life decisions, such as going back to school and finding balance between my passions. She has given me tools to cope with my anxiety and I always find something valuable in a session, regardless of if I felt that I had anything to talk about that day. I highly recommend her!
I've been seeing Kara for almost two years and she's been a great resource in helping me with my anxiety. Together we've come up with strategies and tools that I can utilize to manage stress and anxiousness in my everyday life. She is very knowledgable in her field and often offers books and suggests small assignments that I've found to be both helpful and interesting. I would definitely recommend Kara!

More about Kara Lissy, LCSW

*We file out-of-network insurance claims on behalf of our clients* Specializing in treatment of anxiety, depression, and adult children of alcoholics “I need help.” As human beings, we all share this commonality: each one of us will likely say this phrase at some point in our lives. Acknowledging a need for help can be uncomfortable, painful or scary. Perhaps you’ve discovered that something is keeping you from becoming the best self you can be. Or maybe your relationships, career or family life is leaving you feeling depleted. The good news is that these struggles do not have to define who you are; change is possible and it can be a beautiful thing. Recognizing and building upon the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity and challenges has become a refined skill and passion of mine. During my outpatient therapy and emergency room experience, I have worked with people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and ages. I have helped people improve the quality of their relationships, facilitate more effective communication, work through stressful life transitions and crises and create happier, more fulfilling lifestyles. I can provide a safe, encouraging environment in which we will quickly build rapport, establish goals and develop a healthy means of meeting them. We will work collaboratively to utilize and build upon your unique set of strengths to empower you to take more control over your emotions, behavior and a path to happiness and wellness. I will draw upon different approaches tailored to your individuality and your particular reason for seeking help. I have seen success incorporating cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused and strengths-based approaches for depression and anxiety. I am also a firm believer in healing mental and emotional distress by way of physical activity, meditation and humor; as such, I am an avid runner, yoga enthusiast, bookworm and huge fan of stand-up comedy :) Asking for help is not easy, but you don’t have to do it alone. I look forward to speaking with you so we can begin to discover your resiliency, strengthen your commitment to yourself and renew your hope for a more fulfilling life!

I have been a patient of Kara's for over a year and I have nothing but amazing things to say about her. From our first session together, she has created a safe and completely comfortable environment for us to communicate and work through any / all issues. I have always felt like she truly cares about my life, feelings and whatever else I bring up during a session. There are too many instances to count, where I have left a session and texted one of my friends how great / useful my time with Kara was. Through our work together, I have noticed considerable differences in how I deal / cope with hard situations and my overall well-being. I have constantly and will continue to recommended her to my friends - when the topic of therapy comes up. I would recommend Kara to anyone who is looking for a therapist, who will work hard to create an open, safe and encouraging environment where you can truly work and better oneself.
