Keeley is great, love her. She makes a huge effort to ensure that I'm comfortable at each appointment. She listens carefully and recalls what we talk about- sometimes word for word- for each session. She's kind and not judgmental at all. She's not someone who just sits there. She always asks a lot of questions to probe me to think and to think about things from all different points of view. She is someone who keeps a lot of structure, but who I can feel relaxed with at the same time. I'm very grateful for our sessions together.
Dr. T is someone I trust immensely. She has bent over backwards many time to help me. She has helped me come to some difficult realizations and has helped me to accept certain things that I had trouble facing. I think she's great.
Keely was great, absolutely loved her. No waiting times, sessions start every hour on the hour. She asks lots of probing questions to get me to think. She allowed my emotional support dog in her office, which other therapists have not. I felt very comfortable with her. I'd highly recommend.
She wasn't for me. Very fidgety and unfocused in her chair. Her office was a little smelly and there was cat hair on the rug. I'm very picky on setting as I have a hard time focusing so these are deal breakers for me. I like a more guided session but she is a little more free form which makes me anxious. She messed with her hair a lot, yawned to excess and hardly gave eye contact. Although, she did ask a couple of questions that prompted a train of thought for me later. Unfortunately she was a little harsh so I had an inner argument with her first before I was willing to accept her question and it's helpfulness. She is fine but if you're super picky and it's hard for you to commit I wouldn't recommend her. I like to have as few reasons to leave therapy as possible because it's always challenging to get back in. She was also late to one session and canceled another (last minute). The cancellation wouldn't bother me so much if she didn't have such a strict policy for her patients on cancellations. (48hs by Sunday at 11) I think she told me either late the night before or a few hours before our session. I was sick and gave her a full 24hs.
My sessions with Keely have played a pivotal role in working on my communication skills and rebuilding my confidence in communicating with others. Thanks Keely!
Keeley was kind and welcoming. She created a comfortable and focused environment. She seems to be an open-minded person and very non-judgmental. I am looking forward working with her.
Unlike most of the reviewers here, I did not have a good experience with this doctor. During my appointments I didn’t have the feeling that the doctor was actually trying to understand my issues. Never got any useful advice on what to do to feel better. When I had to cancel my next appointment and tried to reschedule - doctor never responded to my email. Which I don’t find professional :(
Dr. Keeley really knows her stuff- very thorough, very clinical. She even called my psychiatrist to resolve an medication issue. She went above and beyond.
Delightful! Will certainly be returning.
My intake appointment with Keeley was pretty standard. More clinical than I'm used to with therapists, but overall I'm looking forward to working with her!
Keeley is an incredibly understanding, empathetic, and effective therapist. She has been extremely helpful and I would recommend her to anyone.
sense of humor, takes her work very seriously but expects you do work hard on yourself, available between sessions by text and email
Felt comfortable pretty much instantly, will be returning!
Keely was very welcoming and understanding.
It was a waist of time. She said the same thing over and over, kept on watching the clock and picking her nose. Very unprofessional.
Great & very comfortable experience.
She's really good. Didn't know what to expect, but she's very mellow and allows you to tell her/show her what the problem is. It was very cathartic.
It wasn't what I expected, it was better. She's very sweet and kind. I can see her helping me with many of my ailments.
I was seen exactly at my scheduled time. The office was quiet and furnished with two very comfy arm chairs. The other therapists on the floor said hello and seemed pleasant. I appreciated the doctor's insights and thought she kept it real. I like that she is honest.
I arrived early, but Dr. Keeley took me exactly at my appointment time. She has a lot of rules, but I thought it was helpful to have clarity RE: her policies, expectations, etc. I think this is meant to ensure that each person is treated equally. She asked questions and I thought she was thoro. She gave me feed back and some ideas to research on my own. I went to Bay Ridge today. The couch was the most comfortable couch I've ever sat on in my life, but I am going to go to Park Slope next time since I live exactly the same distance from each office. I think it was a helpful first visit.
I thought she was wonderful. She was very attentive and made me feel comfortable
I had a vastly different experience from what all the great reviews here describe. First of all, her Carroll Gardens office is a tiny single room (literally just enough room for two chairs) in another company's office space. There is absolutely no waiting area. I had to awkwardly stand in an office kitchen that random employees were in until Keeley opened her door. The session made me feel worse than before I came. She asked me questions that I had already answered extensively in the paperwork she made me fill out, which demonstrated she hadn't bothered to look at any of it before we met. And when I gave my answers, she would just say "huh...", sometimes looking surprised, and then move on to the next question. She also, MULTIPLE times while I was talking, checked her phone and even texted more than once during my session. It all felt very weird and unprofessional. Although my first session was terrible, I wanted to give her one more shot because of all her great reviews. I scheduled another appt for three weeks later, and about three hours before the appointment she cancelled abruptly on me, saying she would call me back to reschedule. It is almost a week later and I have yet to get a call back from her.
She doesn't take her job seriously enough. If you want to complain and vent feelings, she'll listen and her skills are enough for that. Did not show any skills in CBT or any other serious form of therapy. If you want to get real therapy, yoi are better off finding a psychologist or psychiatrists, or a better SW.
Keeley helped get me through one of the toughest times of my life. I just needed someone to talk through what I was going through and she was always available to meet with me on a regular basis. She is friendly and funny and easy to talk to even for an introvert like me. I have since moved out of state so I am no longer a patient, but I strongly recommend her services.
Easy to talk to, super helpful. Sense of humor and adaptable to your needs. Nice comfortable court street office and Cobble hill convenient. I give it two apples. ????
It was a consultation so hard to say for sure. But I left feeling better which has never happened before.
I only had a consultation with Keeley, but in no time, I could tell that she was a wonderful therapist! She's patient, a great listener and someone who I believe you can become comfortable talking to, especially if you're not too social or have difficulty socializing in general. I would definitely recommend her! She has her own nice little practice. Honestly, she's probably one of the best (and coolest) therapists I've ever visited -- it seems so upscale, too. Not that it matters, but it gives you a safe feeling. I can't recommend her enough. She saw me for a full hour and with such great services, I'm surprised she accepts insurance.
We have only seen her for our initial visit but think she is a good fit for our family and our needs. She was open and attentive and had a lot of insight to offer. She has made an excellent impression on us.
Keeley is an excellent therapist. It was a perfect fit. I've seen a few therapists in Brooklyn and she was the most professional and easiest to talk to. I look forward to our future sessions.
Just had my first appointment with Keeley. I really appreciated the way she integrated the importance of being self-aware not only of our mental health but also to be aware of our body and physical health. I went to see Keeley specifically because of her experience in working with transgendered people, like myself. She had a lot of knowledge surrounding trans issues, HRT, discussing transitions with family, and other aspects of transitioning. She was not judgmental at all. Her office is comfortable and inviting. I enjoyed the appointment and will be returning. Thanks!
This therapist seems shocked whenever you disclose your issues. She doesn't follow up or check in on patients so if you don't request to see her, you'll never hear from her again.
She is a wonderful therapist. It is no wonder she has many patients. After searching for so long I very much appreciate having found Dr. Keeley.
I brought my teen daughter to see Keeley for anxiety and depression. Keeley was wonderful, she's very professional, candid, and compassionate. Keeley communicates regularly through phone, SMS text and email, which is a huge plus for me and my daughter. Her office is a cozy, relaxing private practice space in a nice residential pre-war building in Bay Ridge.
I was one of Keeley's patients at the medical practice that she worked in some time ago. I had only worked with her for a couple of months, but found that I had made significant progress with her in therapy. About a month ago, I was thinking of resuming therapy again, but was informed that she was no longer there. :( I was assigned to another female therapist who, in addition to speaking so loudly that the entire clinic could hear, was cold and didn't seem to be up-to-date on treatment approaches. I was disheartned. I looked Keeley up shortly thereafter, essentially crossing my fingers that she was accepting new patients, and she did her best to squeeze me into her schedule that same day. There is no doubt in my mind that she is the best. I'm also really glad that I am able to book my appointments online-- this is just so convenient.
Keeley is great. That is all.
She is very friendly . I think I had good confidence with doctor . Also I took another appointment . I want to come back .
It was a very productive first session. I look forward to future sessions.
Keeley took me right away and saw me for a full hour. Since I'm paying out of pocket, I appreciate that she spends more time with her patients that other therapists do. I also was really impressed with the fact that she does not like to be called "Doctor" or "Miss", and when I complimented her credentials (and she has an entire wall full of them) she flat out said, "they don't make me better or worse than anyone else. We all choose different paths and that is fine." She wasn't condescending in the least bit and I felt like I was in control of the session. She asked me where I wanted to start, what I expect from her, and what my goals for therapy are. She also encouraged me to give her honest feedback about our work together going forward. I would definitely recommend her to others.
Dr. Teemsma was absolutely brilliant. She seems to have a great working knowledge of diagnostics and psychopharmacology. I feel that after seeing several professionals, I've finally received a correct diagnosis. Apart from that, she comes off as personable and very relateable. Her office is warm and inviting, not cold and institutional. I felt at ease. I also briefly met her therapy cat, Emmett, which was a delight. I will most certainly be continuing my treatment with her.
Keeley is a fantastic therapist. She creates a comfortable setting and is one of those people you will quickly trust. She provides good insight and is extremely professional. Highly recommend!
This therapist sees patients in her apartment, not very professional in my opinion. Also seemed to want to blame everything on menstruation... seriously? Would not recommend.
Very comforting, nonjudgmental, and insightful ear that listens to you and thoroughly takes time to give you the best therapeutic session. I highly recommend!
