Dr. Pound was great. He has a great office (very convenient!), was always punctual, very compassionate and made me feel completely comfortable. He seemed to grasp what I was struggling with and really listened carefully and asked great questions that surprised me by doing a lot of the work of thinking through things. He is very smart without showing off which is something I really like. Often in the past I have gotten a sense of therapists doing too much or like faking that they understood. With Dr. Pound I really felt in great hands. I liked how he made it feel really collaborative. And when he had to give me difficult feedback he was always very tactful and kind. I have begun to feel so much better through my work with him, even though in some ways the psychotherapy process is not linear. I highly recommend him.

Conveniently located on the Upper West Side, I was trained at: Columbia University Medical Center, Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (advanced candidate); The Wright Institute, Berkeley (M.A. & Psy.D.); St. Mary's Hospital, San Francisco (Internship); UCSF Medical Center, Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute (Externship); and California College of the Arts, College Counseling Center (Post-doctoral Fellowship).
I specialize in: Couples Therapy and Pre Marital Counseling; Career concerns; Foreigners living abroad; Sexuality (including LGBT issues); Adolescent treatment; Skype Treatments; Depression and Anxiety; and, Life Transitions. I also have particular expertise working with performing and creative artists, as well as top professionals.
My treatment emphasis is to find out who you uniquely are, and to help you become aware of unconscious factors which may block you in moving forward with your goals. I have experience working with a wide range of symptoms and diagnostic issues. My work is psychoanalytically informed but pragmatic.
