My name is Kim Alberts and I’m a registered nurse and counselor with over 30+ years experience in chemical dependency, mental health issues, trauma, and in private practice working with adults and adolescents.
I have worked in emergency rooms, in-patient mental health units, chemical dependency units, and in private practice working with adults and adolescents.
During this time, I have treated hundreds of patients suffering from dual diagnosis – substance dependence and mental illness problems, clients experiencing the effects of drugs and alcohol, and with the families that are also experiencing similar issues. I also treat people with issues involving life changes due to aging, relocation, relationships, or family issues. I have worked with people experiencing and suffering the effects of family abuse, domestic abuse, rape, stalking, war time traumas, crimes, and other traumatic incidents.
Anxiety and depression are one of the main reasons people see
their primary care doctor. Too often, the results of the depression and anxiety are treated but the depression and anxiety are not addressed.
By learning to manage depression and anxiety, you can lessen
the physical results and live with less stress. I work with clients teaching
them how to better manage the stress of life.
I have a Masters degree in Health Science in Addictions from Governors State University and am a Certified Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor (CADC), a Registered Dual Diagnosis Professional (RDDP), and a Certified Addiction Registered Nurse (CARN).
