Hi there! My name is Kristen Larem and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about working with children and families to foster personal growth, navigate challenges and celebrate the small victories along the way. I understand that the behaviors from your child can leave you feeling overwhelmed or like you are at a loss of what to do next. I am here to join you, as a team, in creating a plan for long-lasting change. I strive to build relationships with my clients and their families that are genuine and transparent to optimize the success of your child’s overall wellbeing. My goal is to provide a space for your child where they feel safe and welcomed each week.
I am a current school social worker in a behavioral program that services children from 5 years old to 11 years old. My educational background and training includes a Bachelors of Art Degree in Psychology from Benedictine University and a Masters of Social Work from Aurora University with a specialization in school social work.
I utilize an integrative therapeutic approach including, a strength-based and person-centered perspective, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, play, and talk therapy techniques, to assist children in managing their big emotions and actions. I believe that children learn best when they have the freedom to move their bodies, tap into their creativity, and have a little fun. I enjoy spending time with my German Shepherd dog named Rona, playing board games, and being in nature. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
