I am a professional counselor. I graduated from North Park University with my bachelor of arts in psychology and business and worked in the field of fundraising and event planning. I returned to North Park and earned a master of arts in counseling psychology. It is here where I found my true passion and calling.
My passion for my work is reflected in my counseling style. I am warm, genuine, and truly believe in the healing of my clients. My approach centers on caregivers and parents, who often feel pressure to be everything to everyone. As individuals and couples navigate life transitions, traumatic experiences, and challenges, I partner with my clients and help them identify and strengthen their skills and resilience. I provide a space of safety and acceptance so that my clients can express themselves and be fully and authentically seen. I want to support and encourage folks as they seek to thrive within their families of origin and the families and communities that they create for themselves.
I’m passionate about helping individuals and couples through fertility journeys, including fertility challenges, perinatal mood disorders, adjustment to parenthood, changes in family dynamics, grief, and loss.
In my clinical training in a community hospital setting, I counseled patients as they navigated medical procedures and recovery, highlighting the intersection of treating our mental and physical health together. I use this in my clinical work by understanding how challenges around fertility can be overwhelmingly physical and psychological. These distressing emotions can feel similar to grief and loss. Typical reactions include shock, grief, depression, anger, and frustration, as well as the loss of self-esteem, self-confidence, and a sense of control over one's future. Therapy can help you to navigate these losses and you do not have to do it alone.
