What should a new client know about working with you?

Your appointment will be cancelled or rescheduled if you do not complete your intake forms through Zocdoc prior to your appointment. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and I want you to know that I approach each client with compassion, respect, and a genuine desire to help you feel heard and supported. From the moment we begin working together, my focus is on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be your authentic self—free from expectations or pressure. As a therapist and a military spouse of over 15 years, I bring not only professional experience but personal understanding of how life transitions, chronic stress, and emotional challenges can affect our well-being. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, trauma, parenting stress, or the pressures of military life, I’m here to walk alongside you—helping you make sense of what you’re experiencing and working with you to build a path toward healing and stability. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. I also integrate structured interventions like SPARCS (Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress), especially helpful for teens and young adults. These approaches allow us to develop practical tools you can use in everyday life, while also exploring the deeper emotional patterns that may be holding you back. You don’t have to have it all figured out before starting therapy. Many of my clients come to me unsure of where to begin, and that’s completely okay. I will meet you where you are, honor your story, and help guide you at your own pace. Our work will be collaborative, focused on your goals, and grounded in empathy. If you're ready to take that first step, I’m ready to support you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to each individual’s needs. During our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know one another. I’ll ask questions to better understand your history, current challenges, goals, and what brought you to therapy. This initial session is all about building a foundation of trust and creating a safe, judgment-free space where you feel comfortable opening up. From there, we’ll work together to identify your goals and create a personalized treatment plan. Depending on your needs, I may draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and SPARCS. I work with both adolescents and adults, and I especially enjoy supporting individuals who are managing anxiety, trauma, emotional dysregulation, or the complex challenges of military life. A typical session might involve discussing recent experiences, exploring emotions or thought patterns, and practicing new coping skills or communication techniques. I often assign optional reflection exercises or strategies to try between sessions, helping you apply what you’re learning in real life. I believe therapy should be empowering and flexible. You set the pace, and I’ll walk beside you—sometimes guiding, sometimes listening, always supporting. Whether you're coming in with a clear goal or just trying to make sense of things, I’m here to help you feel more balanced, understood, and equipped to handle life’s challenges.
