Getting to know Laura Geftman

Okay, let me guess - life feels like a lot right now. You're overwhelmed, drained, and stuck in patterns that just aren't working anymore. Maybe you're questioning your relationships, struggling at work, or wondering why you feel so disconnected. That glass of whiskey, wine, or weed isn't helping like it used to. With nearly 20 years of experience, I use Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you process difficult emotions, release what's weighing you down, and reconnect with yourself. Together, we'll create a path toward feeling more grounded and at peace. I help people work through anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and feeling emotionally drained. ART helps resolve distressing memories quickly, while IFS helps you understand and care for the parts of yourself that feel stuck or overwhelmed. My approach is compassionate and direct - focused on helping you feel more grounded and in control of your life. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Boston University and hold a Master's in Social Service from Bryn Mawr College, which have shaped my understanding and approach to therapy. You don't have to figure it out alone. While you might not feel it right now, you know you're ready for change. I'd be honored to support you as you take the first step toward relief and clarity. I'm out-of-network with insurance, but we can explore ways to make it work. You're worth the effort - reach out when you're ready.

What should a new client know about working with you?

With nearly 20 years of experience and post-graduate education supporting adults in ART, IFS, and psychodynamic therapies, I am licensed in NY, NJ, PA, FL, and TX. Since 2013, I have been supporting clients safely and conveniently via telehealth. I would be honored to support you, too. I can help you with: anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and emotional exhaustion. A typical treatment plan may involve 1-5 sessions of ART to quickly process and resolve distressing memories and IFS sessions as needed to help you care for the parts that feel stuck. You can expect to feel more grounded, confident, and emotionally balanced as you release old patterns and reconnect with yourself. In our work together, we’ll explore patterns, process difficult emotions, and identify underlying beliefs. My goal is to help you feel supported and empowered as we create meaningful, lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I offer therapy online via secure video and in-person in a private office in Philadelphia and on demand. Available most weekdays, with evening slots open. I use a variety of approaches, including ART, IFS, Attachment, Interpersonal, CBT, and Schema therapy. ART is especially effective for quickly resolving distressing memories, often in just 1 to 5 sessions. For deeper emotional patterns and relationship challenges, IFS and Attachment-Based Therapy can help uncover core beliefs and improve emotional connections. We’ll work at a pace that feels right for you, whether that means processing emotions, exploring patterns, or building practical coping skills. Therapy isn’t always easy, but you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m here to support and guide you every step of the way. As an out-of-network provider, I provide monthly superbills for reimbursement.
