In trying to make sense of life, we often first attempt to make meaning. Our brains are meaning-making machines that seek to find reasons and attributions for what’s happened, predict future outcomes, and balance the fears and hopes we feel for ourselves and those we love. When we’re able to see things clearly, the meaning we make can enhance our experiences, bring us closer to others and help us to find our purpose. Sometimes, however, this process can be tougher as we’re clouded by emotional reactivity, triggered by past traumas or tempted by self-doubt.
There are wonderful therapeutic tools that can help us to refine this process so that the ways we understand our experiences are more closely aligned with reality and set us up for success. I work with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Theory, Membership Theory and Psychodynamic Modalities to help you best understand your motivations and ambitions and confront the obstacles that might be preventing you from living your best life.
My approach spans the spiritual spectrum as well. I am an ordained Jewish cantor with years of pastoral and chaplaincy experience. In additional to engaging the treasure trove of therapeutic resources that exist, I address each patient as a whole being whose mental health and spiritual health deserve equal attention.
In addition to spiritual engagement, my work has been mainly LBGTQIA+ focused. I bring professional training and personal proximity to the LGBTQIA+ community that I hope will help my clients to feel free and open to explore their various identities with a fresh awareness.
