Welcome!
My name is Laurel Lass, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from California State University Long Beach. I have been practicing for over 20 years, working with individuals facing a variety of challenges including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and a lack of meaning in life. My overriding goal is to help clients feel better about themselves, identify their challenges and strengths, and develop new healthy strategies that support a more meaningful and satisfying life. I use a variety of approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy for Individuals, and Mindfulness.
I also work with couples who are struggling in their relationships and have difficulty getting and maintaining the connection they desire. Even in our struggles, the underlying goal is to be seen and heard and to experience the connection we seek. Unfortunately, some of our strategies are not very helpful. The methodology I use is based on our need for secure attachment, both internally and externally. I primarily employ Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and Gottman techniques.
