Hello! I'm Lenora Levin, a licensed clinical social worker with over 30 years of professional experience and 14 years of clinical experience. I believe that therapy is most beneficial when clients are actively engaged in the process and able to identify their strengths, values, and goals. The areas of focus in my practice are life transitions including grief and loss, career decisions, aging, and navigating relationships.
My approach
I use cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to help clients to challenge negative thinking and reframe past trauma and current challenges. I also use techniques to encourage change including motivational interviewing and behavioral activation. Mindfulness is a tool that I encourage clients to develop to decrease anxiety and depression.
My focus
I am open to working with adults of all ages and particularly enjoy working with women. Depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders are conditions that can be successfully treated with the techniques that I use in my work.
My communication style
It is important to me that my clients feel respected and valued. My communication style is informal and friendly, with an expectation that clients will actively participate in conversations and in setting goals that align with their values.
My journey to therapy
My professional journey has been a winding path, with detours along the way to create a family, raise children, care for aging parents, and allow for time with grandchildren. I believe strongly in maintaining a work/life balance for myself and encourage my clients to do this as well.
My goals for you
Before setting goals, it is important that clients clearly identify their strengths and values. Once goals are set, incremental steps to achieve change are important to help clients to feel confident in their ability to create change and meet their goals.
