He earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University and holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University’s Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Villejo has broad experience in psychotherapy—individual, family, and group—and across diverse settings including psychiatric hospitals, university counseling centers, therapeutic day schools, outpatient practices, and corporate roles. He primarily works with adults and adolescents struggling with concerns from troubling symptoms to more severe mental conditions. Additionally, he conducts psychological testing to gain deeper insight into your struggles.
Dr. Villejo begins with your presenting complaints, listening actively and asking questions sensitively to understand what you are facing. He strives to see the whole picture— you in the context of your relationships, roles, and responsibilities. This means recognizing how your concerns may be interconnected. For example, intense pressure at work can lead to conflict at home, surface old traumas or stressors, and trigger alcohol or drug use—all of which can worsen anxiety and depression. He works with you to ease these feelings and break this cycle.
