As a therapist and as a person I have grown profoundly over the last several years. This is due to my education, as well as my previous and current work experience. I graduated from Texas A&M University
with a degree in psychology. I chose this field because I have a large heart and a passion for helping others. I continued on this same path by pursuing graduate school afterward. I graduated with my Masters
in Social Work from the University of Houston and soon thereafter obtained my license to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
When I was still a graduate student in Houston, I completed an internship at The Harris County Jail. I worked in their Center for Mental Health and IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities). After
graduation, I stayed on and pursued a career there because I had fallen in love with the work. I specialized in the forensic unit working with their vulnerable, incarcerated population. The Harris County Jail housed
inmates who desperately needed mental health attention. I spent three years of my life serving those individuals and treating their mental illnesses. Doing this work really strengthened my empathic lens. I
really learned how our childhood, upbringing, and social situations impact our behavior and our mental health. I believe we are all humans and we make mistakes; but, we all deserve love, belonging, and equal
treatment. After five years of living and working in Houston, I moved to San Antonio to be closer to family. I love working where I grew up and am dedicated to providing support for individuals in my community. I have
now worked in private practice for two years which has continued to broaden my scope of work as a clinician.
